100 E-Commerce Tips Part 2

16

Here’s Part 1.

12. Test. Everything. A lot. You have to make sure that everything works just as you want it to to deliver the best customer experience.

13. Under-promise and over-deliver. This will pleasantly surprise your customers e.g. saying that shipping will take two days but delivering in one day.

14. Before payment is processed, do not distract the customer with registration, newsletter sign-up forms, or whatever else. Your first priority is to get her money!

15. Encourage impulse buying.

16. Play with the wording of your add-to-cart buttons. “Add to cart” is a nice non-threatening way to encourage adding items as some feel “order” or “buy” is too much of a commitment.

17. Use the best product photos possible. Addinf a 360 degree product view may also work.

18. Offer a strong guarantee.

19. Make the font on your product copy readable.

20. Make sure your buy button is big enough to be seen and clicked on.

21. Make sure the title tag on each product page is unique and reflects what is on the page.

Hello. Finally an eCommerce plugin with AlertPay as a payment gateway! You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this!!!

However, my question is the security of digital downloads. They are kept in this folder, /dpsc_download_files/. Does the buyer get to see where the file gets downloaded after purchasing it? How can I make that folder secure so people don’t steal my digital products?

      Hi,

You can secure the digital files by removing FTP access on the folders dpsc_download_files and dpsc_temp_download_files.

Also you can set proper file permissions on the dpsc_download_files folder, so that its only available to web-server for processing.

    • Hi
I am very glad that you made a nice plug in enabling Alertpay. Because you know its a big hassle to open and activite paypal or other payment gateway is too hard for non western country.
Anyway but I have installed your plugin, everything is okay but when i try to chekout there is no response. I have search your site for any solution but I Couldn’t find any suggestion. Try my site and you will see the chekout page is not responding.

Hi there! Thanks for using DukaPress.

I think that it is a javascript error on your theme. Please try with the default WordPress theme to confirm if this is true and tell me so that I can keep checking for a solution.

        • I have changed the theme to default. it is still same. Can you chek please.

Hi again. Believe me, I have spent sleepless nights on this – but I cannot figure out the problem.

One of our users from Russia had the same problem. He said he solved it by “turning on all the php modules available on hist web host”.

Maybe this will work for you too?

    Hi there!

I have installed Dukapress but running into the same problem, paypal doen’t work. Any chance you have a solution for this?

  3. barbara says:

The issue is now fixed. There was a conflict with another plugin I have installed, the developer of the plugin was able to help out and fix it. Dukapress now works and I have to say I’m really pleased with it.

    Thanks for the response,

The plugin is wp-answers, apparently from what I can gather I’m no expert so I may not get this completely right, it was something to do with jQuery and javascript, the developer changed his plugin to use the same that Dukapress uses and then it worked.
Thanks for the compliment about my site, it’s still in the early stages.
    Barbara.

I don’t have any other plugin and have the same problem:(

  6. Am says:

It’s under construction, and not available from WAN 🙁

  7. Hi guys. Nice plugin first of all, you also seem to be fairly dedicated supporters to your users, so in hope of getting some more insight into this I’ll shoot:
Everything else than the widget-shopping cart doesn’t automatically update when I hit the add to cart button. Why is that and how can I fix it? Best. J
