Hello World!
Earlier today, our hosting account was suspended by HostGator. We spent about 10 hours or so suspended. Obviously, we were tearing our hair out the whole time trying to get things fixed.
What was the problem? Well, we don’t like naming names, but PayPal pretty much screwed us over today. They refunded into our account a hosting payment that we had already made to HostGator and proceeded to “limit” our PayPal account.
Because we made a payment while logged in from Kenya, our homeland.
Apparently, folks from Kenya (and Africa) are hardened internet criminals who are guilty until proven innocent. Go figure. We had to suffer the indignity of suspension while we proved our innocence to PayPal.
Sigh. Should this kind of stuff still be happening? PayPal? Come on!
Anyway, we apologise for any inconvenience to anyone trying to access our sites during this period. We would like to let you know that we are profitable and not in danger of going anywhere anytime soon.
Thanks for using DukaPress, and for your time and well wishes.
Díky bohu. držím palce z ČR
Děkuji (I used Google translate)
I see no option for “GOOGLE CHECKOUT” accounts? It seems many of stores on the internet are heading that direction… for the same reason and problems you have.
Will you have GOOGLE CHECKOUT option someday?
Yes we will! Probably next release 🙂
I know exactly what you mean about Paypal. I was on vacation in Malasia and I tried to transfer funds from Paypal to my checking account—the same way I always do– and they froze my account. It took over a month to get my money from Paypal. Simple things can take forever sometimes.
Just checking out dukapress to see whether it will work for my little webshop and noticed that the boxes in the checkout where you fill in your name and address are, shall we say, a bit untidy. Am I doing something wrong?
Hi Kelvin,
Do you by chance have an ETA on the next release that will include google checkout?
The next release should be out any time now. But sadly Google Checkout is still not in there. 🙁 We’re working on it but not sure when we’ll have it included.
kelvin & wham,
glad to hear you are hanging in there and most of profitable. You people ‘rock’. I can’t understand PayPal sometimes, when a corp’s gets too big they get out of control.
Thank you, Steve.
