As you probably already know, we are attending the WordCamp Kenya 2011. We had our time on the stage earlier today where Kelvin – on of DukaPress’ co-founders – spoke about DukaPress. He spoke about the DukaPress story – how we got started, how we have been able to grow to this point and the challenges we faced. We think hope that the people at the WordCamp enjoyed this talk! The whole point of the talk was to inspire at least one person in the crowd to start developing commercially for WordPress. Hopefully someone will take up the challenge.
The event itself is fantastic! It is set up in the scenic Crayfish Camp which is just at the shores on Lake Naivasha in Naivasha town, Kenya. The crowd itself is really good too and is made up of mostly very prominent Kenyan bloggers. (We got to meet many of our childhood heroes :P).
In fact, based on the connections we have made just today, expect exciting new Kenyan payment gateways to be integrated into DukaPress very soon.
If you aren’t here, I feel sorry for you. Good for you that we’ll have the video of our presentation up soon. 🙂
You can get more information on WordCamp Kenya here. You can follow the event live on Twitter by following @WordCampKE or #WCKE which is the official hashtag.
Cheers. 🙂
Well done!
Too bad am hearing this now what is next ? can I get a re-cup of the discussed points ?
it woo in all honesty I did not think you can do all this with wordpress. I have done components for M-Pesa for Joomla and oscommerce going wordpress will not be a hard nut to crush.
I missed big am sure!!
As soon as we get the video from the organisers we’ll put it up! 🙂
