DukaPress Enters The Wild

58

Well, its been a few months of nothing but toil on our contribution to the greater WordPress community. We love building stuff with WordPress and make our livings doing so (at Nickel Pro and at Likechapaa). However, building e-commerce sites with WordPress has always been a great difficulty for us. So what did we do? We built our own WordPress e-commerce plugin.

When we started building it, we had absolutely no plans of releasing it to the greater public but some people we talked to made us realise that there is nothing to lose and everything to gain by releasing to the WordPress world. We love our plugin and we naturally feel that it is the easiest and most ‘friendly’ such plugin in existence. I sincerely hope that you give it a try and that you grow to like it.

Download DukaPress.

    Looks very promising, I will try it out on my next e-commerce site.
    One question: I develop websites in Uganda; any change of adding Ugandan mobile payment gateways ?

  2. Kelvin says:

    Thanks for the vote of confidence. Please let us know your experiences with it when you try it out.

    Adding Payment gateways is quite straightforward and we definitely can add those – it’s just that we don’t know anything about them. Some help?

      Hi, I will try Dukapress on two of my sites. Is it possible to have Moneybookers as payment gateway?

      http://www.moneybookers.com

      Best Regards
      Joergen

      • Parshwa says:

        Hi Joergen,

        We dont have Moneybookers yet but if you are comfortable with code, you can easily add it. I will be writing a post about how to add Payment gateway soon. πŸ™‚

        Regards,
        Parshwa

    Hi, this is very good and easy to use, well done. I imported your test data, and added a product using your instructions. All is fine except that the images do not show, even though they are uploaded. Is this a CSS issue? (WordPress 3.0) Thanks!

    Hi, I’m just now exploring WP / ECommerce and your plugin looks promising except I am wondering if you will (soon) be developing or I could hire you to develop a USPS shipping extension so the cart could auto calculate using the usps api?

    • Parshwa says:

      Hi Harmony, You can hire me to develop USPS shipping extension for the cart. If you want, I can also do UPS and FedEx as well.

      • Harmony says:

        Hey there – good to know you could do the usps part – unfortunately the more I went through the set up I realized that this is a great product for the price (I would even have donated) but I need something that will be easier for my clients to use (i.e. form fieds for product options instead of having to do the |size||color| (which is easy for me but would not be easy for a retailer with little experience). I want to set something up like GetShopped.com – just a super easy WP/Shopping cart solution that I can sell to my customers that don’t need the more advanced Joomla!/Virtuemart system I currently sell. I don’t mind paying but I don’t like the way Get Shopped drives everyone back to their site for upgrades etc – I want what they have but more “white label”. I’ll keep an eye on Dukapress and try again as you get a little more developed.

        • Kelvin says:

          Thanks for your honest review and opinion. I strongly urge you to keep an eye on us – this is just our 1.0 release and we can only get better. Good feedback like yours is what inspires us to continue making this thing beautiful. If you noticed, for the next version, we’ll be adding support for WordPress Multisites among other improvements. I believe you won’t be able to resist DukaPress at that time πŸ˜›

          Thank you!

          • Harmony says:

            Sweet! I can hardly wait – how soon do you think that will be released? I have not launched my multi-site product yet so I may be able to hold off depending…. Also, for the USPS connection – can you send me a quote? That would be an important feature for us (and I’m sure others would purchase it too). Thanks again,
            Harmony

            • Kelvin says:

              Hmm, the next version incorporating WP Multisites and custom post types, and (much thanks to you for this one!) a better and more usable way to add/edit products should be available, for free, in a month or so.

              Regarding USPS, I think Parshwa sent you a quote?

  5. Hi,

    I set the Shop Mode to Inquiry Email Mode, however nothing seems to happen when I press the Inquiry button under the item in the grid.

    By the way, how did you get the shopping cart to display in the side bar in the demo?

    Website is here:
    http://sofarsewgood.com

    • Kelvin says:

      Hmmm, I believe that the problem will be solved once you add one of the display shopping cart widgets πŸ˜€

      • Thank you very much, I’m not sure how I missed those widgets when I went to look for them.

        I am very grateful for your quality work and generosity. Where is the donation button?

  6. Found it, on the download page.

    • Kelvin says:

      Adam, we cannot thank you enough. We promise to do our best to make DukaPress the best it can ever be. Thank you!

  7. peura says:

    Hi, thanks for the nice plugin! regarding the missing image … it is important to make the cache folder writeable otherwise timthumb won’t work. Maybe it should be added to the docs.

  8. nicholas says:

    Good one (plugin/support/)

  9. Akhil Mittal says:

    hi
    i am very impressed with the plugin but facing a little problem
    i want to display my products on different pages in a tabular format.as u can see in the link
    http://lablinkinstruments.com/?page_id=60

    First column is product id so i want inquire button in front of every product id so that when i click inquire it sends me the product id as enquiry. or other details also if possible.

    since products are in very large number or u can say one product has different classification and sizes. so need to display in the same format.

    hope u can help me out with this.
    examples for my requirement are

    Thanking you in anticipation

  10. Dennis says:

    Is there a way to hide fields? Say I want to use this product for a catalog, I can’t find anything for catalog mode. So I could do what I need by hiding the add to cart and price fields.

  11. Dennis says:

    I did that, but it still shows the price and add to cart button on the product.

    Is there a certian place where it needs to go?

    I put it here at the bottom of the options.

    .dpsc_grid_product p, .dpsc_grid_product .product_form input {margin: 0px!important;}

    .dpsc_grid_product_detail{display:none;}

    span.was {text-decoration: line-through;}

    • Kelvin says:

      The one I gave you removes the add to cart and price on the grid view page.

      Add both of these anywhere in the file to remove add to cart and price on both the single product pages and the grid view page:
      .dpsc_grid_product_detail{display:none;}
      .dpsc_content_container{display:none;}

  12. Dennis says:

    Okay, that worked but now the description is gone also. Is there a way to leave that? & just remove the price, weight, & add to cart button?

  13. Dennis says:

    On the single product view.

  14. Dennis says:

    Hi Kelvin, no offense taken! I really appreciate your help. This is what I would refer to as the description.

    Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Nullam tristique eleifend consectetur. Proin molestie ultricies vehicula. Suspendisse tempus pellentesque mi in commodo.

    • Kelvin says:

      That body of text is actually something that we entered into the WordPress post editor just below the place where we put in the shortcode. So just type in your description below the shortcode for single product pages. πŸ™‚

  15. sonofara says:

    Hi im a newbee and would like to know if there’s any way to remove the inquire button from grid view and keep it only on the product details page.

  16. Dennis says:

    Thanks Kelvin, it worked as you described now!

  17. sorcery says:
