Well, I am pleased to announce that soon, very soon, DukaPress will work with custom post types.
What does this mean? This means that on activating DukaPress, it will register a new post type, “Products”. This will result in a new item on your WordPress admin menu. Instead of adding products by going to “Add New post”, you will now you “Add Product”.
We’d like to thank Lopo Lencastre de Almeida and Eric Koch Photo for their suggestions.
We believe that this makes DukaPress better and easier to use. What do you think?
Ooh, that sounds great! A custom post type would be excellent for improving the usability for my clients! (I already have used custom post types in order to ease this).
I’m looking forward to this!
Thanks! It should be done soon. Have you already used custom post types with DukaPress?
Not yet, I’m afraid. I have planned on doing it, but then I saw your blog-post and figured it better to wait.. 🙂
No worries, We’re about half way into doing this so it should be out soon 🙂
what about integrating the “fields” or “simple fields” plugins so users don’t have muck with custom fields? That would be HUGE
Thanks for this suggestion. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that we’re about to complete this in the upcoming version of DukaPress! 😀
When will all this be completed? Wanting to use this for a client project that needs to go live asap, but gonna hold off until you support custom post types.
Trust me, we’re working double time to get this ready.
Thanks for trying out DukaPress btw, I hope its a good experience thus far 🙂
There is lots I like but there is also lots I dislike. I sent an email this last week with some of my suggestions and gripes 🙂 Any timeframes for the post type?
Also had some questions regarding adding extra fields to the checkout. So if you could reply to the email, would be much appreciated. Thanks
I am unable to get new item “Products” on my WordPress admin menu.
Plz specify the reason and guide me.
This feature is not yet released, my friend. It’s a few days away.
My site’s main menu contains links to product categories. Clicking on these links results in ‘Page Not Found’. How can I resolve this issue?
This is because your theme is not able to show custom post types in categories. You need to create category templates for your theme. here’s how: http://codex.wordpress.org/Category_Templates
You need to make those category templates able to show custom post types and not just normal blog posts.
I like the look of your blog and I am going to do a similar thing for mine. Do you have the theme or where you get the theme from please?
Will be great if we can add as many custom post type as we need, For diferentt type of products in that way we can add taxonomies depending the product.
CustomPostType: Movies.
Taxonomy: Actor, Director, Studio, etc.
CustomPostType: Videogames.
Taxonomy: Developer, Publisher, plataform, etc
Why extra custom post types? Why not just categorise into movies, videogames, etc?
